BIO

Lisa DanesinLisa Danesin AFCA, SCA was born in Sidney, B.C. and grew up on Vancouver Island. Deeply influenced by the natural beauty of her surroundings, she always knew that making art would be an important part of her life. This led to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Victoria, where she studied drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, and art education.

Although Lisa's first love was the magical medium of watercolour, in which she paints both highly representational botanicals, as well as her more whimsical "Silverwave" series in watercolour and silver ink, in recent years she has embraced the bolder language and freedom of large format abstracts in acrylic. In all mediums she remains true to her love of paper and its seductive surface.

Of her abstract work she has the following to say...

"...My work invites an intimate experience between art and viewer. Within each painting there is a trace of the familiar, forgotten but now remembered, seen but not yet understood. Every piece is a conversation between the simple and the complex, expressed in line, shadow and colour, at the point where drawing and painting intersect..."

Always a fan of technology, Lisa also took a temporary (but very complimentary) detour off the beaten path of “traditional” art and studied IT and Web Design through BCIT. She now enjoys integrating iPad and other “techie” know-how into her own artistic process.

Lisa continues to make her home on Vancouver Island, and currently lives and paints in Lantzville, BC. She is a Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists.
